to size an ozone generator
Sizing an
ozone generator depends greatly upon a number of factors.
Area size, level
of contamination, and type of use all come into consideration.
We don't like
to list square footage ratings
for our machines because
we feel these
numbers have no meaning.
Sizing depends
upon what are you trying to accomplish.
Using an ozone
generator to help rid a mild odor is a completely different use than
using one to
kill mold or remove strong pet urine smells.
So for a manufacturer
to claim a machine covers 3000 square feet, it is absolutely
meaningless!
A smoky, odor
filled room needs more ozone than a relatively clean room.
It is very important
to understand there is a great difference between
air
purification in OCCUPIED rooms,
and high
ozone shock treatments blasted into UNOCCUPIED rooms,
that are a must
to remove odors and kill mold.

For average home
use, room by room, the XT-400
or the XT-800
are the recommended models because of their ease of use, their total
control over the ozone output, and the high ozone outputs needed to remove
strong odors. For any sized room air purification they are the most versatile.
The XT-120
or
the XT-240 can
be used in smaller rooms.
For mold problems
it is usually best to use our XT-2000,
XT-4000,
or XT-6000 units.
For professional
applications we now offer the XT-14000 and
the XT28000.
The XT-28000
puts out an unmatched maximum of 28,000 milligrams per ozone per hour
Remember that
ozone used for air cleaning, is a completely different use, than performing
High
Ozone Shock Treatments , which are effective
for removing stubborn odors like mold, and animal odors.
To effectively
kill mold and remove strong odors you must blast a room with many times
more ozone than can be tolerated in an occupied room.
To kill mold and
remove strong odors there needs to be as high an ozone concentration as
possible in the room. Since ozone breaks down to half it strength in 30
minutes it is important to keep producing large amounts of it to keep the
ozone concentration at a sufficient kill level.
Using a smaller
machine twice as long is not the same as using a higher powered machine
since the ozone breaks down so quickly. With a smaller machine the
ozone level never has a chance to "catch up" to the required parts per
million concentration needed to kill the mold or bacteria.
Properly sizing
a machine for any particular situation is very important.
High
Ozone Shock Treatments are strongly recommended
for serious odor and mold removal.
Every
situation for ozone use is different.
Please look at
our charts and understand that these are realistic, but very loosely defined

The amount of
ozone you need to accomplish your job may be entirely different than someone
else's. These are examples to give you the general idea about ozone generator
sizing.

| For MOLD
remediation we recommend our largest ozone generators. Very high levels
of ozone are the most effective way to kill and control mold spores. The
XT-120
or XT-240 are
NOT strong enough to perform High
Ozone Shock Treatments to kill mold, they
can only remove its odor at the ozone levels they produce.
The XT-400
is the smallest model recommended to combat mold, although much
stronger machines are often needed. The XT-800
is the largest machine that can be used for both air purification,
and High
Ozone Shock Treatments.
If you have MOLD
problems we suggest you call us before you choose a machine.
Understand that
"Whole
House Air Cleaning" coverage is only possible
if the machine is set up properly to do so, as in firing the ozone into
the return air duct of your ventilation system.
Otherwise the
ozone generator is designed to work in the room that it is placed in.
NO
air purifier will work through walls or cover the whole house by placing
it in just one room.
Turning the ozone
level up higher to purify another room will only lead to to much buildup
of ozone, and not enough in another.

It is always
recommended to use as much ozone as possible to remove serious odors and
kill mold. The higher ozone output of the machine the easier it is to accomplish
the task.
There is no such
thing as a machine "too large" for a odor removal job.
On the other
hand, not having enough ozone to do the job is one of the biggest mistakes
that can be made
in trying to kill strong odors.
Smaller machines
can never achieve the same results as a higher powered machine.
This
units are unoccupied room blasters, they are not air purifiers.
